Though legal sports betting is prohibited in the US by Federal law, there has been in recent years a re-examination of its logic on a variety of levels. Part of this is a desire for new revenue sources, while part is simply a growing acceptance of gambling in all forms. Ultimately, the true injustice of banning sports betting lies in its contempt for the Constitution.

Unfortunately, the Congress of the United States has shown very little respect for the Constitution in recent years. Were it to abide strictly by the role outlined for it by the founding fathers, the Legislative Branch of our government would have to relinquish any number of its powers in a variety of areas. The primary problem with our Congress is that it has increasingly become a collection of career politicians rather than a body representative of its constituency. As a result, the overriding concern of the average Senator or Congressman is increasing the power that he is able to wield, and as a result the power that his body is able to bring to bear.

The Federal prohibition of sports wagering which was enacted a few years back is of very dubious Constitutionality. Were it not for the grandfather clause, which allowed it to remain legal in jurisdictions in which it already existed, it would have certainly been struck down as unconstitutional on a number of different fronts. Ironically, the Nevada gaming industry wasnt too concerned at the passage of this law; indeed, they certainly liked the fact that they could go about business as usual while potential competition from other states for the sports wagering dollar was completely curtailed.

The mere fact that a proposed law or initiative is unconstitutional offers no protection for the citizenry. If a politician can suggest that a law is for ‘the children’ many will swallow the bait hook line and sinker. In many cases such prohibitive legislation contradicts one of the most important concepts in the Constitution–that of the right to sovereignty and self-determination of the individual states:

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

The overriding concern of the writers and framers of the Constitution was that the personal liberty of the individual not be violated by a too-powerful central government. In other words, unless the power in question has been expressly given to the Federal government by the Constitution, and/or unless it has expressly been prohibited to the states (as in the case of treaty making) it is the right of each individual state to govern themselves as they see fit. If an individual state chooses not to regulate a certain activity, it is the right of each individual citizen to make their own decision.

So, you should be asking yourself at this point, where exactly does the Constitution delegate to the Federal government the right to make policy on sports gambling? The answer is that it doesnt, and it is very questionable that they have the Constitutional authority to do so. The sanctimonious blowhards who oppose sports betting would like to think they know best, but fortunately for all freedom loving Americans the founding fathers would beg to differ.

Sports gambling may seem a minimally important issue to some, but the erosion of liberty is an incremental danger. The danger to broader concepts of personal liberty may seem a million miles away, but with each additional law intended to protect us from this or that the Federal government becomes larger and more powerful and the rights of the sovereign states”and the individuals that comprise them”are shrinking and being weakened.

South America will host the Summer Olympic Games for the first time in 2016, as Rio De Janeiro, Brazil was awarded the honor on Friday. Rio beat out the US choice of Chicago, Illinois along with Tokyo, Japan and Madrid, Spain to earn the right to host the games. Despite a high pressure effort from the American power elite–including President Barak Obama and TV gabfest queen Oprah Winfrey–Chicago was the first city eliminated from contention. Tokyo was the next to go, before Rio got the nod over Madrid in the final round of balloting.

Bookmakers offered odds on the host city choice, with Rio listed as second favorite at +200. Chicago had been the wagering favorite at most books, particularly after President Obama got involved personally in the US bid effort. Chicago was bet as high as a -300 favorite, while Madrid and Tokyo were priced in the +250 range. Some suggest that Tokyo didnt deserve to have such short odds, but was the beneficiary of regional pride from the notoriously enthusiastic betting population of Japan.

Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, President of Brazil, got the better of his US counterpart with a passionate speech that stood in marked contrast to Obamas typically baleful collection of talking points. The Brazilian leader stressed the unfairness that South America had never hosted the games in his speech to the committee;

“It is a time to address this imbalance. It is time to light the Olympic cauldron in a tropical country.”

The Olympic committee was apparently swayed by this presentation and paid no mind to Rios many downsides. It is without a doubt the most dangerous of the finalist cities, where drug cartels and armed bands of thugs roam without impunity. Well do to Rio citizens are used to removing watches and jewelry before they drive anywhere lest they be targeted by carjacking brigands. Rios murder rate is also one of the highest in the world. Brazilian bid officials have stressed that security will be a priority at the games and it better be lest the Olympics turn into a bloodbath.

Some IOC members suggested that the summary dismissal of Chicagos bid was more of a rebuke of the notoriously corrupt USOC. The last two Olympics held in the US were tainted by crime and corruption. The’96 Atlanta Olympics were disrupted by a terrorist bombing, while the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Games were marred by a well known bribery and corruption scandal.

ATV’s were made for use in agriculture, for moving gear and getting around all over farm property. They have since turned into a sport for quite a few individuals and are at present even used for racing. Individuals love the thrill that ATV’s provide and also the vast range of ground that ATV’s open up for investigating. ATV’s will provide a lot of pleasure for riders and be a useful hobby.

ATV’s will also be dangerous, particularly for children. Adults are regularly injured when they lose management of an ATV and youngsters have even less ability and experience than adults. This is not to mention that children should not be permitted to use an ATV, however they need to adhere to strict safety rules in order to avoid harm.

Children ought to be taught that an ATV isn’t a toy and should be operated with care and with safety in mind. They must be made aware of all the security rules and in no way permitted to ride without supervision. If youngsters appreciate how unsafe ATV’s will be and what they have to do to stay safe, they can be at a abundant lower possibility of being hurt.

The most effective factor you’ll do for your child before they’re permitted to ride is make them go to an approved ATV coaching course. Many places require riders under sixteen to require a coaching lessons before they can legally use which could be a sensible plan anyway whether or not your area does not expect it. You should attend the coaching lessons with your child so that you are also acquainted with ATV safety and will put into effect the safety rules your kid learned.

An additional necessary safety practice for you and your youngster is riding the right sized ATV. Youngsters should never ride an grown-up sized ATV, as they are sometimes too massive for them to comfortably control and improve the likelyhood of injury. If you’re going to buy your child an ATV make certain you get a youth sized ATV that is not excessively large for your child. You ought to additionally think about the motor size as a more powerful engine means a faster ATV. Kids ought to only drive an ATV that they will be able to handle.

Sporting appropriate safety gear is additionally an necessary part of ATV safety. Children ought to invariably wear helmets, gloves, goggles, long pants and a long sleeved shirt. Most places need helmet use by law but even if they do not, a helmet ought to perpetually be used. Using safety gear can prevent several injuries that can happen when riders have an accident. Make sure that the protection equipment you get for your kid fits properly and is of high quality. You should make certain that the safety gear your child uses is rated for ATV use.

The last issue you ought to always do to keep your child safe, is to examine their ATV prior to every use. Teach your youngster how to examine their ATV as well and you’ll be able to then each make certain it stays in excellent working condition and will not stop working or malfunction throughout use. If you and your kid follow these safety guidelines, your kid will have a safe and enjoyable time with their ATV.

The author enjoys writing about common interest subjects. Another favorite is the toy kitchen set which her neice has given five thumbs up. Read more at KidKraftKitchen.org.

Alexis Arguello, one of the greatest boxers to ever compete at 130 pounds, was found dead in his Managua, Nicaragua home in early July of an apparent suicide. He was 57 years old. Arguello was the mayor of Nicaraguas capital city at the time of his death.

Known for his class outside the ring as much for his tenacity inside the ring, hes best known to casual fight fans for his epic war in 1982 with Aaron The Hawk Pryor when he moved up in weight after dominating at lighter weight classes. Though Arguello would lose via 14th round knockout (amid some controversy due to an apparent mystery drink offered to Pryor by his trainer Panama Lewis) it was a thrilling toe to toe battle that even the most knowledgeable boxing experts remember fondly to this day. Ring Magazine not only named it Fight of the Year, but later would dub it Fight of the Decade. Promoter Bob Arum offered these thoughts on Pryor/Arguello:

“It was a brutal, brutal fight. That was something I will never, ever forget as long as I live. That was one of the most memorable fights I ever did.”

Arguello is arguably the best lightweight and junior lightweight in the history of the sport. Arguello never lost a fight at 130 pounds and would end his career with an astounding 82-8 record with 65 knockouts and championships in three different weight classes. At the time, he was only the sixth man in boxing history to hold title belts at three different weights.

Ironically, Arguellos career didnt get off to a good start and he lost his debut in 1968 via first round TKO. After that, he seldom lost again. He was at his best against his toughest adversaries including Ray Mancini, Bobby Chacon and Ruben Olivares. Bob Arum remembered him not only as a great fighter, but as a great man:

“Not only was he one of the greatest fighters I’ve ever seen, he was the most intelligent fighter. He was a ring tactician. Every move was thought out. And he was a wonderful, wonderful person.”

The articulate, intelligent Arguello was frequently quoted on the fight game and how champions should conduct themselves. Here, he speaks of his attitude toward his opponents:

Of course after the fight you want to make sure that youre okay and so is the other guy, its a brotherhood in there, so you want to make sure everyone is okay after the war is over.

Arguello didnt fight for his first title until hed had 58 fights, and would frequently admonish boxers who didnt show the same respect for the sport or their status as champion:

When you won that title you should know now that you are representing a whole country or nation with your actions and you are now in a glass house or under a microscope and you better be ready to make your people proud.

Arguello loved boxing and fought to protect it from those who would undermine its greatness:

I respect boxing because it has given me so much and thats why I will never allow anyone to mistreat the sport of boxing if I can help it.

While the modest Arguello would never say it himself, that was for from a one sided debt and he contributed more than his fair share to the sport of boxing with his grace, intelligence, talent and toughness.

One of the most popular freshwater fish for anglers is the carp, which gets a lot of attention in Europe, but is still struggling to catch on in the United States. Carp fishing is a popular outdoor activity, and the large size and good fight of these fish is sure to help the growth of this sport continue. One thing every would be carper needs, however, is good fishing equipment.

There might be no piece of fishing gear more important than the rod. If you want a suitable fishing rod for carp, you will wan to find one that is at least medium action, and also at least six feet in length. For beginners, this is an ideal rod to get into this type of fresh water angling.

Next is the reel. A good reel for carp fishing is one that is open faced. You don’t want tangles inside a closed face reel screwing up everything. The reel should also be able to hold 150 yards or more of 12 pound test line.

Finding the right bait is important with any type of fish. Carp aren’t picky eaters, but some bait is going to work better than others. While many bass anglers love rapalas, the best tackle for carp is actually sticky and smelly bait. There are many specialty carp baits available, so test around and see what the carp in your area like best.

More advanced carpers will often use racks with several rods, or “pods,” and set them all up with bait and wait for any carp to show. These rod holders can be very expensive, but also free up the hands for anglers who don’t mind catching up on a good book while waiting for the trophy carp to show.

And of course there’s the all important fishing line. Kevlar fishing line is a popular choice among any anglers, although in the end the main concern is getting fishing line that is 12 pound test or better.

While there is big time fishing gear for carp anglers that costs a good deal of money, starting gear can be had for fairly cheap. Carp angling can be a very rewarding hobby that provides many hours of entertainment, making it a cheaper in the long run over many other forms of recreation.

These are some of the basic things you will want to look at when looking at some beginner’s gear for carp fishing. Follow the guidelines in this article and you will be looking at some serious success carping in no time.

Number 1. Ultra light fishing gear is a must if you are hoping to catch trout. Too often, fishermen or women try to use medium capacity tackle when at the river trying to catch a trout. It is a huge mistake and you are unlikely to catch fish. Instead, you must use tackle in the form of an ultra light rod and reel and the lightest possible fishing line.

From my own experience, I have found that 4 pound mono filament line is the most suitable when fishing for trout. Using a light line and tackle are the best tools for trout fishing, especially if you’re fishing in small streams or rivers.

Number 2. Be very conscious of your shadow. You should be careful not to cast a shadow on the area you will be fishing when fishing those small rivers and streams. if you do cast a shadow, this is a certain way to scare away the larger, older trout who have become wary of people. I repeat, if you want to catch trout, you must be aware of your shadow.

Number 3. No artificial bait or lure beats the effectiveness of a plain-old live worm when it comes to catching trout. For me, a live worm riding the current of a small river or stream will attract trout most times the fish are present. And the best way to rig a live worm for trout fishing is to use a set of gang hooks. Gang hooks and live worms is the perfect combo for trout fishing.

Number 4. Try using small spinners, in the 3-7/16 range, for catching trout. While effective in many trout fishing situations, the small spinners are perfect for fishing rivers and streams. Pop your rod tip while allowing the spinner to flow with the current can be the most effective method. Using black, browns and other dark colors with gold blades has worked for me. Be sure to attach your spinner to your line with a small barrel swivel for best results. Not only will it stop your line from twisting, but it will also ensure that your spinner spins well and is attractive to the fish.

Using any or all of these tips will make you a much more effective trout angler. There you have it. Just put these tips into practice, as the sooner you do, the more likely you are to reel in the big one.

[I:http://www.uniquearticlewizard.com/extras/pics/krummlawimage1.jpg]

The young olive ridley sea turtle was only 15 as she waited 500 yards offshore in the tropical warm eastern Pacific ocean off Ostional Beach in a small land that, about 500 years earlier, Christopher Columbus had named “Costa Rica”, the “rich coast.”

The nearly daily afternoon rains of October had stopped as the marine turtle waited in anticipation. The moon was in its final quarter and, though she did not know why, it was having an effect on her.

A dozen yards away, another olive ridley sea turtle joined her, followed by a dozen, then hundreds, thousands, and soon tens of thousands, all waiting quietly. For billions of years the moon has silently passed its everlasting phases that affect the world’s tides-and today it was bringing her ashore this night, just as it had led her forebears to ancestral nesting beaches for more than 100,000,000 years.

Only a few months ago, this marine turtle was swimming way out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Indeed, in March an ocean tramper ship had passed her more than 2,500 miles offshore. On that same day, the tens of thousands now alongside her had been distributed throughout several million square kilometers. But, life is forever mysterious and this year was no exception.

Although there was plenty of food far out in the Pacific, something had begun to stir within her. Hundreds of thousands of marine turtles felt the same inexorable compulsion to return to Ostional Beach. They, and she, were all going back to where they had hatched.

Now, as she waited in the soft moonlight, she was ready. Over the thousands of miles she had swum she had been bred by several different males in the clear tropical waters because, somehow, they, too, were being affected by something unseen, a force primeval. It was something so compelling that it had been bringing her kind back to the same Costa Rica beach since the days of dinosaurs.

This olive ridley sea turtle was returning somehow to the very beach where had hatched in 1995. No one knows how an olive ridley sea turtle finds the exact beach where she started life. Ostional Beach is only a few hundred meters long. Now part of Costa Rica’s Ostional National Wildlife Refuge, it is almost certainly the most important olive ridley marine turtle nesting site on the planet. Indeed, the year this turtle hatched, about half a million females had come ashore to nest here in massive “arribadas.”

For more than two decades, the mother of this olive ridley joined massive Costa Rica arribadas annually and she would have done so again except that she drowned in an illegal shrimping net just a few weeks before. Thousands more perished by long line commercial fishermen. Even more died unnecessarily by swallowing plastic bags carelessly discarded. So many have been killed, the race is endangered.

But, neither our turtle nor the tens of thousands alongside her know none of this. As they gather, they are now so many that it seems one could almost walk on their backs for a mile or more. They don’t realize they were on this planet long before the first Tyrannosaurus Rex or that when they lay their eggs on this tiny wildlife refuge, men will legally dig up nests and take 1,000,000 eggs in return for protecting the rest of the clutches and preserving the species. They only know this: Ostional is their beach.

Then, though no one knows why, it happens. As quietly as they first appeared, as silently as they gathered, their patience has been rewarded and they begin to come ashore. A single olive ridley turtle followed by a second. Then there are hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands—even more than that—each intent on one task: bringing new life. All night they come. And all day, day after day. It is a wonder of magnificent Costa Rica and as timeless as the phases of the moon. It is the spectacular display of life called Arribada.

Childrens Powered Ride Ons are very popular today. There are various models and styles from which you can choose. You may choose different sizes of batteries, control the speed of the toy and so much more. However, there are various concerns surrounding all powered riding toys.

One of the biggest concerns is that of safety. You need to know how fast the powered ride on will go, the types of stopping features as well as what may happen if your child has an accident while riding the toy. The automatic stopping feature is one of the best safety features concerning these types of toys. The power will stop and the brakes will apply when the child releases the accelerator.

There are several ways to take care of the speed of the toy. One of them is buying childrens power ride ons that include a 6-volt battery. This offers a maximum speed of 2.2 to 2.5 miles per hour, which is a safe speed for many young children. Some of these toys come with the limit of one speed and others may have a speed lock out.

The newer models generally include very good safety features that may include the auto stop feature, speed control, seat belts and many more safety features. It is a wise decision to insist that your child wear a safety helmet whenever he or she plays on these riding toys. You should teach your children about the safety features as well as how to use them. Show them how the automatic brakes work when they step off the pedal.

Along with the benefits, come the learning experiences with childrens powered ride ons, such as improvements in coordination and spatial skills as well as eye hand coordination. As the child masters his or her driving abilities, they will enjoy hours of exciting and imaginative fun. It also helps to build their self-confidence.

You can find childrens powered ride ons at different local outlets as well as online stores. Remember to check each website you visit, to find out about the sizes of batteries, recharging units and the safety features of the products. Save yourself some time and energy by checking out the price comparison websites to compare the prices of each model that you find interesting.

Check with each site for their guarantees, any warranties they may have, and their policies on returning defective merchandise. They may charge extra fees on their childrens’ power ride-ons, like return shipping charges, or taxes depending on which state you live in. It may be a good idea to visit a local toy retailer, to at least get an idea on the many products available. If you have any questions, the friendly and knowledgeable sale staff can probably answer many if not all, as well as offer other tips and advice.

Since this is a large investment not only in money, but also in the concerns for your child, do not just take the first thing that you find. Take the time to research and learn more about the various battery sizes, the recharge time, battery lifespan as well as the length of time you have for use while being fully charged. You may want to consider getting some extra batteries for the childrens powered ride ons, in order to extend their playtime.

Kasey Kahne's prospects for making the Sprint Cup went up massively after Kahne finished 1st in a big race on Sunday in Atlanta.

Kasey Kahne’s prospects for capturing the Sprint Cup increased tremendously after Kahne won a giant race on Sunday in Atlanta.

Earlier, Kahne found himself at 11th overall in the chase for the cup, but this victory jumped him 5 spots, all the way into 6th place. With the playoff composed of twelve racers and merely one race remaining before the positions are determined, Kahne’s prospects of reaching the post-season try particularly more realistic than they previously did.

At some point in the course of the race, it looked like it was Kevin Harvick’s race to win Harvick, who emerged triumphant at the Nationwide race the night before, was looking good until Clint Bowyer came into danger with just 15 laps left. Bowyer, Harvick’s teammate, killed his chances for capturing the event, as Kahne exploited the caution and finished first by just under 2 seconds.

Harvick, who concluded in second place, just fell short of his 1st victory during the ’09 race year. Coming in 3rd place was Juan Pablo Montoya, who is currently looking for his first playoff berth and looks like he may be able to make it happen.

Kahne was pleased with the race all in all. Happy with the car, he credited his success in the race to its performance – and naturally, a bit of help regarding Kevin Harvick’s troubles.

Finishing in 6th at the race was Denny Hamlin. With this finish, Hamlin is currently the fourth NASCAR racer to earn a playoff entry in the chase for the cup. Hamlin joins Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, and as it should go without saying, Jimmy Johnson, who has won the most recent three years.

When asked about his chances, Kahne showed good optimism.

Having had the advantage of a nice performing auto in the race, Kahne credits its sturdiness to his success in the race.

Although there was a little change amongst the 12 seedings for the Chase, no one was displaced from the top twelve this past weekend. The lead is maintained by Tony Stewart, with Jeff Gordon and Jimmy Johnson not too far behind. Additional drivers include Denny Hamlin, Carl Braylon, Kurt Busch, Kasey Kahne, and 5 more. Occupying the 13 and 14 slot are Brian Vickers and Kyle Busch, who both really need big performances next weekend if they seek out a chance at the championship.

Bobby LaPonte is confessedly only a youth. He's six years young, the only child of his parents, and resides with his parents in Johns Creek, Georgia.

Bobby LaPonte is confessedly merely a kid. He’s six years young, an only child, and resides with his family in Johns Creek, Georgia.

Although Bobby possesses large goals. While jovial in age, he is completely set on his fantasy to someday race in NASCAR’s large leagues, the Sprint Cup Series.

Bobby’s dreams are so giant, in fact, that he regularly thinks regarding driving with the big fellows. According to his folks, Larry and Nancy, he even makes the clamor of NASCAR cars in bed.

Larry thinks that his kid got his love of racing while still inside his mother.

“I drove the amateur track course circuit for 10 years,” he claimed. “When my spouse was pregnant with Bobby, she used to be there to see me compete and we believe that is when Bobby started his obsession with nascar.”

Much like Jeff Gordon and his daughter Ella, the LaPontes maintain photographs of baby Bobby climbing in and back out his dad’s auto when he was just a baby.

Bobby might drive every day if he may, and he becomes that opportunity with the extensive driving season, from March until November, in the Southern aspect of the country. He and his dad compete each weekend, regularly traveling to other states, which include Alabama, North Carolina, and Tennessee, to participate in their local races.

This most recent July, Bobby took park in his first national championship event. He earned a win in his semifinal group competition.

Bobby is fast to speak you that he competes in quarter midgets, a smaller type of the USAC Midget Sprint autos that Cup drivers like NASCAR’s title point leader Tony Stewart begun his profession driving.

Bobby lets you recognize that because he plans to trail in Stewart’s footsteps and follow that equal road in his own nascar career.

This small man indeed is looking forward to achieving his large NASCAR dreams, that of racing with his idols in the years in store.
