When you are at a party or a social event, we have been raised to believe that some subjects are taboo, such as religion and politics, as bringing them up as a topic of conversation will often start a lively debate, that could all to easily turn ugly.

Religion and politics are very personal subjects and many people have strong beliefs about them. For this reason, they are considered off limits in polite discussions.

No one ever thinks that they are wrong about politics or religion, and because of this they are not willing to listen to other viewpoints. This is proven through the wars that have been fought in the past over political and religious differences.

Many people do not even want to think about ideas that could be different from theirs. They are not willing to examine their own beliefs so they don’t even want to talk about it.

Politicians often have the same problems when discussing hot button issues. Many times differences in opinion lead to arguments and resolution is hard to achieve. Sometimes common ground is never found.

Judgment can at times be clouded by a staunch belief in any given thing, making it impossible to consider another angle. When in a political setting, there may be a large group of people who feel deeply and completely sure about their opinion on an issue.

By voting for political professionals who agree with your particular viewpoint, you can be reasonably sure that they will represent your beliefs when they consider laws and other political issues. This is probably the best way to voice your opinion on many topics.

However, to ensure that your views are being represented, you have to remember to vote.

Research the politicians that support as many of your views as possible. You may want to stump for them or volunteer for their campaign to ensure they are elected or stay in office. And if none of the politicians match your views fully then create your own campaign and get people to support you!

There will be a day no one will ever forget. A day that has never been seen before that day is on December 21, 2012. We will all have our questions that day. But I think it will take quite a bit of time to actually know what is going on. No one knows what will happen will we be hit by a mysterious planet, or will we have a massive climate shift? Everyone will need a guide to surviving 2012 if they expect to live.

A survival bag is going to be the main thing you need to survive. Have this bag ready to grab in a seconds notice. Fill this bag with all the gear and food that you will essential need for your survival. Lots and lots of canned food should be packed. Have a plan for you and your loved ones to escape. Practice this plan the same way you would with a tornado and fire drill.

You will need a planned escape route, and you and your family should educate yourselves on basic survival skills. Plan for many different scenarios, because we have no way of knowing which will occur. All we know is what everyone else is saying, and what we are hearing is scary.

You and your loved ones will need to know all of these important skills that could save your life. I know everyone is scared, but we have to learn more before it’s too late. Do not think that you are educated enough to go walking into the road talking at people about this, it will only scare them.

Anyone that owns a TV has been watching the news and they all know what people are saying about 2012. I personally do not believe that 2012 we be as bad as some are saying. I do however believe that our world is about to undergo some serious changes now whether those changes are good or bad i have not got a clue.

The media is hyping up this 2012 event to keep people scared. I don’t think it will be the end of the world, but I think were approaching a new age and I don’t know if it will be good or bad, I just don’t know. Here are some tips on how to get ready for 2012.

We have talked about the food, I did get a little side traced on the water issue, so just pack plenty of cold bottled water. Do what you will with these tips, I hope they keep you and your family safe but I want one more thing from you, I want you to take one more piece of advice find old loved ones, friends, and family member and just keep them close to you. Make sure you can help them if you can.

Much of what we know or have supposed about Barry and the Vale of Glamorgan, in which it is situated has been gleaned from the buildings found there, many of which have been badly neglected for too long. There are also legendary stories, such as that of Joseph of Arimathea, who traded tin in Glastonbury, just across the channel and who was one of the first missionaries to this part of the country.

Tradition maintains that the father of Caractacus took his son to Rome and was converted to Christianity. They returned to the Vale of Glamorgan with the missionary Bran the Blessed. We do know that Christianity had become fairly popular by the early 4th. Century and that south Wales sent some bishops to the Council of Rome.

Saint Baruch’s Church on Barry Island is one of the oldest places of historic religious interest in the region, but unfortunately, it too has been allowed to become dilapidated. Barry Island was one of the most important places of monastic interest in south Wales and around. The ancient Viking strongholds of Steep and Flat Holms also housed monks and Saint Illtyd’s Seminary in nearby Llantwit Major, which taught 2,200 disciples, was closely linked to it too.

A castle was constructed on the site of an old Roman fort and naval shipyard, which had been on Porthkerry Point, although it protruded further out to sea then than it does now. Furthermore, many wolf and deer bones have been found between Barry and Sully, proving these animals’ existence there in vast numbers Arrowheads, flints, needles and coins show that people inhabited the area with them.

‘The Island’, as it is known locally, was first named Baruch’s Island after St. Baruch, who was found washed up on one its beaches dead in 700 AD. He had been drowned on his return from Flat Holm, where it was common practice for religious students to spend Lent.

He and Gwelches had been disciples of St. Cadoc at the time. On their return to the island, they realized that they had left their enchiridion (religious manual) behind and St. Cadoc made them go back and get it. They never returned alive. St. Baruchs most famous disciple, St. Illtyd was educated there.

Barry Island has had several names, including Island of the Saints and Insular of Peiros. St. Peiro was the leader of the seminary after St. Illtyd and the mentor of St. Samson. St. Doeninas was also a leader of another abbey near Friars Point on the island.
