With “Interrotron rental” becoming a really hot topic online, most are asking
just “what can be a damn Interritron and why would I’d like to see one?”



The “Interrotron System”, (aka Interritron) designed by famed documentarian, Errol
Morris, is quickly becoming the standard way to shoot interviews. It uses two
special teleprompters, each equipped to take a youtube video image. The talent sees only the
face of your director plus the director sees precisely the face from the talent. The room is
darkened and the two units are separated using a curtain.



So, rather than looking into a cool and they often intimidating camera lens the interviewee
sees the human face of your companion talking to them. This solves several problems
at a time:



First it gives the interviewee an increasingly natural environment. They go to the human
face, not an intimidating film crew.



Secondly, this process relaxes the talent, particularly when they’re not professional
actors.



Thirdly, it will help keep up with the proper eyeline while in the shoot so enabling prevent
that natural tendency for talent to seem off camera the 2nd they finish
speaking.



And ultimately, by thinking about an animated face, the talent can better study the real
intent on the question and the mood with the questioner. So answers are often
more useful in order to the particular.
